Spice that comes from the Origanum Majorana plant; also known as Sapsycho or origan the amaranth. It mainly thrives in mountains, clifs and sometimes can be found in gardens. The bloomed ends of the plant are used but it is preferred for the branches to be collected before they totally flourish. Flowering lasts from July until October. Marjoram is popular for many years.
Egyptians used it as a healing plant. Ancient Syrians made a perfume named "Amarakinon" that supposedly had such an intense smell that could cause a headache. Maybe it is in the beginning principles of homeopathy that this beverage can heal headache. It is known that singers of all times drank the marjoram beverage with honey in order to preserve their voice.
Marjoram seeds are used as a spice in curing meat and in various preparations of meat, as well as in soups, sauces, baked products and in odoring rooms (closets, drawers, etc). In some villages in England they use the flourished ends of the plant in the production of homemade beer and specifically to flavor and maintain the beer.
